マイアミの港町で、労働組合のリーダーが失踪するという事件が起こった。ＦＢＩ捜査官は事件の解決を焦り、港で働くマイケルを犯人に仕立て上げる。女性記者のミーガンは事件の真相を探るが、その記事は一人の女性の自殺という事件を引き起こしてしまう……。真実を探るための報道が人を傷つける、というテーマで描いた シドニー・ポラック監督のサスペンス。出演はポール・ニューマンとサリー・フィールド。1981年米。

The 1981 drama, Absence of Malice stars Paul Newman, Sally Field and Melinda Dillon. Newman, Dillon and writers Kurt Luedtke and David Rasyfel were all nominated for Oscars. This movie was one of many collaborations Dave Grusin had with director Sydney Pollack. The score was transferred from master sources from the Sony Pictures vaults.
