トラックリスト映画『ザ・スーパーマリオギャラクシー・ムービー』は、前作『ザ・スーパーマリオブラザーズ・ムービー』に続くシリーズ最新作として、舞台を宇宙へと拡張したスケールの大きな物語が展開される作品です。
それに呼応するかたちで、音楽面においてもよりダイナミックで立体的な表現が志向されています。
音楽を手がけるのは、前作に続きブライアン・タイラー。
ハリウッド大作を数多く手がけてきた同氏は、本作においてもフルオーケストラを軸に据えつつ、近藤浩治氏による原作楽曲のモチーフを随所に織り込みながら、シリーズの持つ親しみやすさと映画音楽としてのスケール感を高い次元で両立させています。
国内盤CDは2枚組仕様で、ディスクごとにマリオとルイージを象徴するカラーリングを採用。
アナログレコードは2枚組LPとしてリリース。本作のために特別にマスタリングされた音源に加え、赤いチコをイメージしたカラーヴァイナルを採用。さらにジャケットには蓄光や箔加工などの特殊仕様が施され、銀河を舞台とする作品の世界観をフィジカルとしても体感できます。
作品の世界観を視覚的にも反映したパッケージとなっています。また、ライナーノーツも同梱され、作品理解をより深める内容となる予定です。
