Composed by one of Canada's most influential electronic musicians, John Mills-Cockell was a pioneering artist whose work with avant-garde groups Intersystems and Syrinx helped shape the country's experimental music scene. An early champion of the Moog synthesizer, he became known for his compositions across radio, television, film, ballet, and theater. Mills-Cockell would later score another Canadian slasher, Humongous (1982), as well as one of John Candy's earliest films, The Clown Murders (1976).
His work on Terror Train has long been considered one of the film's most underrated strengths and remains a favorite among genre enthusiasts for its bold fusion of traditional brass and electronics. The music felt remarkably modern for 1980, blending classical instrumentation with forward-thinking electronic textures that helped distinguish it from many horror scores of the era.
