A sunny, enigmatic composer, Gaigne has patiently developed, alongside an impressive output of music for film and intense activity as a stage musician, a catalog of challenging works drawing on instrumental, vocal and electronic resources. These encompass a very broad musical spectrum, including electroacoustics and microtonality, constantly reinventing the relationship between traditional music and symphonic music?particularly of the 20th century. Gaigne is also one of those composers who can move with equal ease from instrumental writing to acousmatic composition (a form of electroacoustic music that is specifically composed for presentation using speakers, as opposed to a live performance), and to their synthesis.
