THE STORY: Leo is a single, womanizing guy who lives day to day in a tiny beach town in the Canary Islands. One day, one of his old flings, Julia, comes back from Madrid, leaves a baby of a few months in his arms, and disappears.
THE SCORE: "Leo and Alba's story is so sweet, funny well-written, and well-acted that it hardly needed any music. That being said, in the moments where there is music, our goal was not so much to underscore the sad moments but rather to enhance the comedy and tenderness. We aimed to emotionally support the evolution of Leo and Alba's relationship while keeping in sync with their narrative arc. From the beginning, we were clear that the sonic palette would be a mix of electronic and acoustic elements, such as acoustic and electric guitar, double bass, ukulele, a string quartet, and piano. In fact, the piano serves as a guiding thread throughout the film. The first musical cue begins with a piano arpeggio followed by electronic pads, and the last one ends with a piano melody. The leitmotif that deals with tenderness and Alba's relationship with her father and later with her mother is also written solely for piano (the first track, “Leo y Alba”)." - Zacarias M. de la Riva

A former student of telecommunication who then enrolled to the Berklee College of Music to study film music, de la Riva has already proven himself to be talented in every genre he's come across.
