One of the last works of Roque Banos (“Ocho apellidos catalanes”, “Torente 4: Lethal Crisis”, “Diary of a Nymphomaniac”) is “1898. Los ultimos de Filipinas”. The story of the last Spanish soldiers in Philippines forgot by the Spanish Empire at the end of the 19th century, in a great blockbuster of Spanish cinema, with the participation of some of the most important actors in this moment: Luis Tosar, Javier Gutierrez, Karra Elejalde, Eduard Fernandez. Banos composed an epic score, in which the use of ethnic and folk elements serves to delimit geographically the action of this war film. There is also space for melodic themes in the most intimate scenes about the soldiers defending the last Spanish redoubt in the Philippines. In this symphonic and dramatic music the use of choirs is also part of the score and gives it a great and heoric air. This product is a CD-R edition limited to only 200 units. -- from the label
