“Bora Bora” is a 1968 film directed by Ugo Liberatore who, under the pretext of telling about a marriage relationship crisis, depicts the eponymous Polynesian island as a place of perdition and absolute freedom, in contrast to the strict rules imposed by Western society. This movie is also referred as the ‘debut’ of the exotic/erotic film genre, which culminated a few years later with the famous adventures of Emanuelle Nera interpreted by Laura Gemser. As it often happens in such cases, we’re facing a mediocre film - also due to the paltry budget with which such works were funded - accompanied by a great, if not exceptional soundtrack. “Bora Bora” is no exception: Piero Piccioni was, like Morricone and Umiliani, a real professional, able to transpose feelings and moods in music; while listening to the ten tracks of this LP, the listener has the vivid feeling of being transported in the uncontaminated and fascinating Polynesians landscapes, with the addition of hints of mystery and, inevitably, of eroticism. This AMS Records reissue is the first one on vinyl after more than 30 years, and faithfully reproduces the original 1969 Cinevox version. 180g black vinyl edition, including a 30x30cm poster containing reproductions of vintage flyers and lobby cards.
