HARTER BROCKEN (2CD)

長年にわたり、ARDの「HARTER BROCKEN」シリーズはファン層を築いてきた。物語の中心は、村警官フランク・クープス、近隣自治体出身の捜査官メッテ・フォクト、郵便配達員ハイナー・ケルツェンベルクが、ブロッケン山近くのハルツ山地にある小さな町ザンクト・アンドレアスベルクで国内外の犯罪者と戦う姿だ。本作は地方犯罪ドラマと西部劇の中間にある独特の雰囲気を成功裏に創出している。これは主演のアリョーシャ・シュターデルマンら俳優陣の演技に加え、音楽の貢献も大きい。

アリ・N・アスキン、スファン・ドーリング、ステファン・マッシモ、ヨハネス・コビルケがそれぞれシリーズ用に楽曲を提供。トビアス・ヴァクナーは計5エピソードに楽曲を提供した。このうち4作品はジャスティン・マイケル・ラヴァレ、スティーブン・シュヴァルベ、マリウス・ボルヤンスとの共同制作で、各作曲家の関与度は異なる。「恐喝」はアルネ・シューマンとヨーゼフ・バッハ（略称シューマン＆バッハ）とのハーテン・ボッケン初コラボレーション作品でもある。今回、これらの楽曲を音源としてお届けできることを大変嬉しく思います。本アルバムには、シリーズの最初の9エピソード、つまりエピソード1（字幕なし、2015年）、「The Crown Witness」（2017年）、「The Bank Robbery」（2017年）、「The Secret Code」（2019年）、「The Forger」（2019年）、「The Arms Deal」（2021年）、「The Survival Training」（2022年）、「The Gold Rush」（2023年）、「The Blackmail」（2025年）のオリジナル音楽が収録されています。

マーチングバンドのサウンドから不気味でスリリングなサスペンス音楽、マフィアのテーマ、そしてタレントゥム風のインストゥルメンタル曲まで、特異な構成を通して映画の奇抜な雰囲気を保っているのが、これらの音楽です。それぞれの音楽は、作曲家たちの独創的なアイデアによって心を奪われ、真に唯一無二の存在となっています。また、名前の挙がった作曲家に基づいて、音楽は複数のトラックを含む6つの「ブロック」に分割され、各CDには3曲ずつ収録されています。

Over the years, the ARD "Harter Bocken" series has developed a fan base. The plot centers on village policeman Frank Koops, investigator from the neighboring community Mette Vogt, and postman Heiner Kelzenberg, who find themselves battling national and international criminals in the small town of Sankt Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains near the Brocken. The films succeed in creating a special atmosphere somewhere between provincial crime and western, which is partly due to the lead actors around Aljoscha Stadelmann, but also to the music.

Ali N. Askin, Stefan Doring, Stephan Massimo, and Johannes Kobilke each wrote a score for the series. Tobias Wagner contributed to a total of five episodes. Four of these were created in collaboration with Justin Michael LaVallee, Steven Schwalbe, and Marius Borjans, with varying degrees of participation from the individual composers. "Die Erpressung" also marked the first collaboration at Harten Bocken with Arne Schumann and Josef Bach (Schumann&Bach for short). We are delighted to now be able to present these scores on recording. In total, the album features the original music from the first nine episodes of the series, i.e. episode 1 (without subtitles, 2015), "The Crown Witness" (2017), "The Bank Robbery" (2017), "The Secret Code" (2019), "The Forger" (2019), "The Arms Deal" (2021), "The Survival Training" (2022), "The Gold Rush" (2023) and "The Blackmail" (2025).

The scores preserve the quirky quality of the films through their idiosyncratic composition, ranging from marching band sounds, ominous to thrilling suspense music, a mafia theme, and Tarentum-esque instrumental pieces. Each score impresses with the original ideas of its composer(s), making it truly unique. Named composers also served as the basis for dividing the music into six "blocks" with multiple tracks, three of which are on each CD.

The album comprises a total of approximately 150 minutes of music, and the CD booklet contains numerous illustrations and a brief introduction to the composers. We hope you enjoy the album.
