マエストロ・モリコーネ自身による、そしてマエストロ・モリコーネ自身との、記憶に残る壮大な西部劇映画とその瞬間を。

エンニオ・モリコーネは、映画やテレビのために400曲以上のサウンドトラックを作曲し、100曲以上のクラシック作品を作曲した。代表的な西部劇のサウンドトラックだけでなく、『シネマ・パラダイス』、『タタール人の砂漠』、『労働者階級は天国に入る』といった社会批評的な映画音楽でも知られる。

この2004年のミュンヘン放送管弦楽団とのコンサートは、モリコーネが自身の音楽を指揮した数少ない録音のひとつである。マエストロにとってドイツで初めて自作曲を指揮した公の場であり、今回初めてデジタルとCDでリリース！

このアルバムには、『続・夕陽のガンマン』、『ウエスタン』、『夕陽のギャングたち』、『ワンス・アポン・ア・タイム・イン・アメリカ』、『ニュー・シネマ・パラダイス』、『アンタッチャブル』など、彼の代表的な映画音楽が収録されています。

Ennio Morricone ha composto oltre 400 colonne sonore per il cinema e la televisione, oltre a piu di 100 opere classiche. Non era noto solo per le iconiche colonne sonore western, ma anche per le musiche da film di critica sociale e per film come "Cinema Paradiso", "Il deserto dei Tartari" e "La classe operaia va in paradiso".

Questo concerto del 2004 con la Munchner Rundfunkorchester e una delle pochissime registrazioni in cui Morricone dirige la propria musica. E stata la prima apparizione pubblica del Maestro alla direzione della propria musica in Germania ed e ora disponibile per la prima volta su tutti i DSP e su CD.

L'album contiene una raccolta rappresentativa delle sue musiche da film piu famose, tra cui Il buono, il brutto e il cattivo, C'era una volta il West, Un pugno di dinamite, C'era una volta in America, Cinema Paradiso, Gli intoccabili e molte altre.
