THE COURIER OF DEATH'
Track ListWritten by Matthew Aldworth (soundtrack restoration, compilation, design & THE COURIER OF DEATH record label representative)
The Courier of Death is one of the best, worst, films ever made. The story follows character J.D Blackman (The Courier) as he seeks revenge for the brutal murder of his wife.
The film was shot in Portland Oregon during 1984 and released via Cintel on Lightening Video in 1985. The Courier was the brain child of the late Portland film maker Tom Shaw, although it was down to the dedication of (some) cast and crew that ultimately made his dream a reality.
I first saw the Courier over 15 years ago. Priced then at 25p to buy from my local video shop, it had been transferred from another video shop, presumably because no one had bothered to rent it. My friends and I couldn’t believe anyone in a coherent frame of mind enduring the full 85 minutes. It soon became ‘our film’ and has remained a common link between our group of friends ever since.
After many failed attempts, I managed to locate Dan Fiebiger (Film Composer) on an internet forum. Since then (February 2005) I have been tracking down all pieces of music and information associated with the film.
Recently, and after months of compiling and re-mastering the original recordings, I decided to release the soundtrack on my very own concept label based around the film itself. www.thecourierofdeath.co.uk will act both as an information point for the film as well as a record label specialising in alternative music.
Welcome to the wonderful world of The Courier of Death!
