ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL: MUSIC FOR FILM

ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL is the recipient of the 2024 World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award.

To celebrate, Film Fest Gent proudly presents ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL ? MUSIC FOR FILM, featuring new studio recordings of selected pieces from Elliot Goldenthal’s film scores, performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Film Fest Gent music director Dirk Brosse.

American composer Elliot Goldenthal has made a tremendous contribution to the art of film and theatre music. After broadening his artistic horizon from the concert hall to the theatre scene and the big screen, he has written music for nearly forty films.

Known for his unique mix of techniques, genres and styles, he has set an example for future generations of composers. His fusion of orchestral music with jazz, rock and electronic music and his delicate use of ethnic elements have resulted again and again in compelling soundtracks that were ahead of its time.

For this he won numerous awards and accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and three World Soundtrack Awards.

The album Elliot Goldenthal ? Music for Film features the world premiere release of two complete concert suites, the “Grand Gothic Suite” with highlights from Batman Forever and Batman & Robin and “Final Fantasia” with music from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Further highlights include selections from David Fincher’s Alien3, Julie Taymor’s Frida and Titus, Michael Mann’s Heat and Neil Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles.
