Set in his birthplace of Nagasaki, the film is a human mystery that unravels the secrets of intersecting "memories" that transcend time and place: Nagasaki in the 1950s, shortly after the war, and England in the 1980s. Directed by Kei Ishikawa. Aru Otoko" won a total of eight awards at the 46th Japan Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Kazuo Ishiguro himself was named as an executive producer for the film adaptation, which is a co-production between Japan, the United Kingdom, and Poland. The film stars Suzu Hirose, Fumi Nikaido, Yo Yo Yoshida, Kohei Matsushita, Tomokazu Miura, and a star-studded cast that depicts a story that begins with a lie told by women in the summer of 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of the war.
