12 Conversations (Not OST)

A collaborative work by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai), born from "12 Musical Dialogues"!

This work takes the tracks from Ryuichi Sakamoto's album "12" (2023) as its starting point and was constructed as the two artists responded to and intervened in each track. By expanding, transforming, and reconfiguring the sounds, they acquire new contexts.
Within the relationship they have built over many years, they receive, add to, and alter each other's sounds, transforming them at times boldly, yet always with great sensitivity.
This process is underpinned by deep trust and an open spirit of experimentation.
As the title "Conversations" suggests, this work is not merely a record but was conceived as a space where memory and visions of the future intersect. It is an endless creative dialogue in which the past, present, and future continue to intersect.
The album features a total of 16 tracks and was mastered by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering in Berlin in 2026.
"Conversation 7" features the voice of Emma Maeda and quotes Rainer Maria Rilke's "The Primordial Sound" in its liner notes.
This work is not merely an archive; it is a testament to the fact that the dialogue between the two continues even now.
