RAN (Color Vinyl, 2LP)

The original soundtrack from "Ran" directed by the world's master filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa, is now available on analog vinyl!

The film was produced as an internationally acclaimed masterpiece, and is known as a work inspired by Japanese legend and Shakespeare's "King Lear," among many others, including "Rashomon," "Seven Samurai," and "Kagemusha".

The music composed by Toru Takemitsu. He has released soundtracks for many of Kurosawa's major films, and like Kurosawa in film, he is a master of international acclaim.

For this film, he was asked to provide 40 takes of disparate music for a Mahler-inspired score, and the result is a haunting and eerie sound that perfectly captures the images on the screen. Originally released as two suites, the new release includes them and 14 additional Takemitsu scores, and is available for the first time on color vinyls.
