Noechi and Natsuko are childhood friends who grew up in a public housing complex. They went through a lot in their youth?getting married, landing high-paying jobs?but for various reasons, they've returned to their old Showa-era housing complex. They know each other's little embarrassments and sources of pride, as well as the fate of their first, all-consuming loves, so there's no need to put on a front now. As they eat meals together and banter about silly things, they gradually lift each other's spirits day by day. In this aging housing complex, even those in their 50s are still considered young. They help replace the screen doors at the homes of the older men and women they've known since childhood, or sell Showa-era items online for them. Even if it's outdated "junk," to someone out there, it's surely a "treasure." If they're lucky enough to sell something for a high price, they treat themselves to a slightly more luxurious meal that day. Meanwhile, the new residents moving in also have their own stories. There, a community exists where people help one another, seemingly unchanged yet gradually evolving.
Relaxed, lighthearted, and occasionally touching. What is happiness, anyway? Today, too, I'll just keep getting by.
The music is composed by Kaori Sawada, a singer-songwriter who has also worked on the popular TV drama series "What Did You Eat Yesterday?" Her warm and sometimes humorous music gently enhances the exquisite dynamic between Noechi and Natsuko, as well as the comfortable, flowing atmosphere of their daily lives.
