Starring Masami Nagasawa alongside Masatoshi Nagase and Kaito Takahashi, director Tatsuya Omori portrays the enigmatic daughter of Hokusai. Music by Yoshihide Otomo.
Track ListIn the Edo period, Katsushika Hokusai was a revolutionary painter, and his daughter and apprentice was Katsushika ?i. Possessing artistic talent said to surpass even her father's, ?i lived her life as Hokusai's right-hand woman and as one of the few female painters.
Unable to brew tea or sew, yet possessing her father's bold spirit, she blazed a trail through a male-dominated society as a pioneering female artist. What happiness did this woman, who strove to live honestly and freely according to her heart, ultimately find?
Directing and writing the screenplay is Tatsuya Omori, known for his delicate portrayals of human depth in films like HIBI KORE KOJITSU and HOSHINO KO. Playing the protagonist, Katsushika ?i, is Masami Nagasawa. This marks her first collaboration with Director ?mori since "MOTHER" (2020) and her first lead role in a period drama. Co-starring are Masatoshi Nagase as Oi's father, Katsushika Hokusai, and King & Prince's Kaito Takahashi as Zenjir? (Keisai Eizan), Oi's close friend. A talented cast surrounding Katsushika Oi also includes Ry?hei ?tani, Eisuke Shinoi, Eita Okuno, and Shinobu Terajima.
The music composed by Otomo Yoshihide, reuniting with Director Omori since their collaboration on "When My Mother Died, I Wanted to Eat Her Ashes (Haha wo Nakushita toki, Boku wa Ikotsu wo Tabetai to Omotta)." His melancholic trumpet tones and sophisticated soundscape add color to the story of the little-known genius painter, ?i.
