The novel "Hana Manma" (Bunshun Bunko) by Minato Aikawa, which won the 133rd Naoki Prize in 2005, is adapted into a film starring Ryohei Suzuki and Masumi Arimura in their first collaboration. The director is Tetsu Maeda, who has portrayed the wavering of the human heart with a sensitive and sincere gaze in such films as "Konna Yofuke ni Banana Kayo" and "And Then the Baton Was Passed On".
Toshiki (Ryohei Suzuki) and Fumiko (Masumi Arimura) live alone after the early death of their parents. Fumiko's marriage has been finalized, and Toshiki, as a parental figure, is finally relieved of his burden, but Fumiko has a "secret" that she has not told Toshiki. Fumiko's fiance, animal behaviorist Taro Nakazawa, is played by Takashi Suzuka, Toshiki's childhood friend Komako Miyoshi, the signature daughter of Miyoshi, an okonomiyaki restaurant, is played by First Summer Uika, and Fumiko's secret is related to the Shigeta family's father, Hitoshi Sakamukai, played by Yoshimi Sakata, Seiji Rokkaku, the oldest son, Koichi, and Midoriko Kimura, the oldest daughter, Fusaeda, are all talented actors. The music will be composed by L.A.-based Yoshihiro Ike, who has composed music for many TV dramas, including the "Partners" series and anime. In this film, heartwarming and melancholic music gently envelops the story.
