Two people who are in the same place but have never met.
Takeru and Miyu work at "Double," a bar by night and a cafe by day.
The only thing that connects the "night people" and the "day people" is their "byte notebook," which they use to communicate with each other. At first, it was only for business communication, but gradually, they began to write about their hobbies and worries. Because they had never met, they were able to be honest with each other.
But in fact, the two were acquaintances. Moreover, they did not get along with each other at all, and their relationship was terrible. Without knowing each other's true identity, they promised to meet for the first time under the big onion (Budokan).
Meanwhile, on a radio program, a story is told about a love affair with a pen pal from 30 years ago. He promises to meet for the first time at the Budokan with the person he loves, though he does not know his face... Can the two couples meet under the big onion?
The two love stories of 2025 and Heisei intersect, and eventually a miracle awaits...
The film stars Kaede Kamio and Hiyori Sakurada, and is directed by Shogo Kusano of "Aimitagai" and based on the song "Under the Big Onion" released in 1985 by the rock band Bakufu Slump, which celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The music for the film is composed by Otomo Yoshihide, who has won numerous awards including the Record Award for Best Composition for his music for "Amachan". The acoustic, heartwarming score gently accompanies the story.
