The story takes place in Muromachi, Kyoto on the eve of the Onin War.
Famine and pestilence are spreading, and countless corpses are piled up on the streets. In such a chaotic world, there were people who appeared like the wind and challenged the great powers.... Hasuda Hyoue, the first samurai in Japanese history to lead a revolt, and the only one whose name appears in the history books. This film dramatically depicts the unknown battles of the “outlaws” who gathered under him. The “outlaws,” or “muoriyaku,” who have been stirring up an unprecedented revolt, challenge the Shogunate forces with only nine men in the end. What is their chance of victory and their aim in this reckless battle with zero chance of victory?
Based on “Muromachi Muyori” by Ryosuke Kakine, which won the Naoki Prize last year (Shincho Bunko). It is an entertaining action story set in the dark ages of the Middle Ages, a time of “real” wind, fire, and dust!
The music for this film is composed by L.A.-based Yorihiro Ike, who has composed music for many TV dramas including the “Partners (Aibo)” series and anime. The music is full of realism, from a wandering acoustic sound, to a melancholy macaroni western-style sound featuring whistling, to a dynamic orchestral sound that will make your heart pound with excitement.
