SECRET OF MOONACRE, The

Based on Elizabeth Goudge’s award-winning children’s book The Little White Horse, The Secret of Moonacre is an epic adventure film directed by Gabor Csupo, who made the acclaimed Walt Disney family movie Bridge to Terabithia. The story follows the exploits of thirteen-yearold orphan Maria Merryweather, whose sole inheritance from her father is a book. This is no ordinary tome, however - in Maria’s hands, its ancient story comes alive. The book chronicles an age-old rivalry between the Merryweather and De Noir families over a set of magical pearls, and as Maria delves into the mysterious tale, she finds herself fantastically entangled in the bitter feud. The epic orchestral score by Christian Henson reflects the elegance and magic of the story, and is a colourful fantasy film score in the best of cinematic traditions. Beautiful themes, dark and foreboding suspense music, exciting action music and moments of both innocence and humour form the backbone of the soundtrack. Highly original portions of the score include glassware smashing and fingersnaps!
