ORWELL: 2 + 2 = 5 / MAIGRET ET LE MORT AMOUREUX / VICTOR COMME TOUT LE MONDE

In collaboration with Velvet Film, SBS Productions, CG Cinema and Assise Production, Music Box Records is pleased to present a new album dedicated to Alexei Aigui, featuring the three latest soundtracks he composed for his two most faithful directors: Raoul Peck (Orwell: 2+2=5) and Pascal Bonitzer (Maigret et le mort amoureux and Victor comme tout le monde).

For the documentary Orwell: 2+2=5 (2025), which interweaves the life of George Orwell, his prophetic writings, and images of the contemporary world, the composer delivers a minimalist and hypnotic score that chillingly captures mental confinement, propaganda, and the distortion of truth under totalitarian regimes. For Maigret et le mort amoureux (Maigret and the Dead Lover, 2026), the composer provides an elegant and tense score for this literary thriller adapted from Georges Simenon, where strings and hushed atmospheres underscore the psychological mysteries, heavy silences, and subtle interrogations of Inspector Maigret. The score for Victor comme tout le monde (Hugo, 2026), meanwhile, is more intimate and nuanced, faithful to the filmmaker’s precise style, as Aigui provides a delicate and melancholic writing to explore human flaws and the absurdities of everyday life.

This album is an invitation to rediscover the unique talent of Alexei Aigui in the service of two major figures in French and international cinema. The album is available on a limited edition CD and the three soundtracks on digital platforms.
