MIO CARO DR. GRASLER (aka THE BACHELOR) is a movie directed in 1990 by Roberto Faenza and starring Keith Carradine, Miranda Richardson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sarah-Jane Fenton, Max von Sydow, Mari Torocsik, Mario Adorf. Dr. Grasler (Carradine), fifty years old, medical staff at the Thermas, has an obsessive relationship with the protective sister Friederike (Richardson). After her suicide he leaves the island of Lanzarote, where he spent the winter, and returnes to Hungary to practice his profession overthere. Feeling the emptiness of his life and, though still hesitant and uncertain, he is looking for the ideal woman, and he believes to find her in Sabine Schleheim (Thomas), the young and strong-willed daughter of a retired singer. Being afraid of getting married, he moved away from Sabine and had the opportunity to flirt with Katharina (Fenton), a commoner uninhibited girl, who will die infected by scarlet fever in his arms. Dazed by this death and having learned that the chaste sister Friederike in fact has nurtured many secret passions (the unsuspected friend Bohlinger was among her lovers) Dr. Grasler succumbs to the lure of Sommer, a widow, who has a strong ransamblance to Friederike . He eventually marry with her and together with the unbearable child they go back to Lanzarote to spend the winter. Ennio Morriconec omposed an OST extremely romantic to describe the world of the unrepentant loving bachelor, creating an atmosphere of elegant classic flavor alternated with dance music, and the evocative LIEBESLIED song performed by Edda Dell'Orso. This album, complete edition (58:40), is in full stereo, and also includes two new tracks personally approved by Ennio Morricone. The master tapes of the original recording session were used, completely restored and digitally remastered.
