L’ANATRA ALL’ARANCIA (aka DUCK IN ORANGE SAUCE) is a comedy movie directed in 1975 by Luciano Salce, based on the homonymous stage play by William Douglas-Home and Marc-Gilbert Sauvajon, starring Ugo Tognazzi, Monica Vitti, Barbara Bouchet, John Richardson. Livio (Tognazzi) and Lisa (Vitti) are a couple in crisis: in ten years of marriage they have never missed extramarital stories, but their relationship seems destined to close permanently because Lisa is in love with Jean-Claude (Richardson), a rich and fascinating Frenchman, with whom Lisa wants to live together in France. Livio is jealous of Lisa, who -albeit in his own way- he loves her deeply, but instead of reacting violently he adopts a more subtle tactic: he invites Lisa and Jean-Claude to spend a last weekend together with him in their villa by the sea, pretending to be friendly. Livio also invites Patty (Bouchet), the young secretary and uninhibited mistress. During their stay, that should officially consecrate civilly and without trauma a consensual separation, jealousy grows between the spouses. The young and sexy Patty makes Lisa furious. But she is forced to control herself to stay abreast of the apparent calm of her husband. Livio is going to cook duck in orange sauce, a culinary specialty of their honeymoon, enriched by his personal touch, an added alleged aphrodisiac spice, the Piticarmo. Shortly before departure, Lisa lets slip that is no longer so sure of wanting to separate from her husband, but after Livio suddenly punches Jean-Claude, she changed her mind again. Livio, desperate, runs after them with his own boat. Armando Trovajoli has composed a brilliant musical score based on the superb main theme, CANARD A L'ORANGE, divinely performed by Suan -who also performs PRIMA O POI, YOU KEEP ON TURNING ME ON and ENFADO- and later reprised with orchestral versions. To present this CD with 55 minutes of music GDM has used the master tape of the original album and the master tapes in stereo of the original sessions, which gave us the chance to add about 20 minutes of unreleased material properly restored and digitally re-mastered. Limited 500 copies.
