SALTO

A poetic, dreamlike story by Tadeusz Konwicki with Zbigniew Cybulski in the lead role. And a short but incredibly expressive soundtrack by Wojciech Kilar. If it weren't for him - this title dance would not have been so strongly etched in the history of Polish cinema. The album also includes alternative versions and music from Aleksander ?cibor-Rylski's film "Jutro Meksyk".

A forgotten town filled with strange characters. And he ? a mysterious visitor, who has a different version of his own biography for everyone. "Salto" is an absolute canon of Polish cinema. A separate and unique film, difficult to compare with any other picture. A film full of words, extremely intelligent dialogues. There is little music here, but it plays a very important role. Wojciech Kilar prepared hypnotic, obsessive dance motifs ? including the most important one, referred to on the screen as the title salto. He also wrote chamber, short piano forms, which decorated the opening and finale of the film. And that was enough.

"Salto" is released remastered from the original tapes from the archives of the Wroc?aw Feature Film Studio. In addition to the full music from the film, the disc includes alternative versions of all the songs and music from the film "Jutro Meksyk" by Aleksander ?cibor-Rylski. The booklet includes text about both films, photos and reproductions of memorabilia. The disc continues the joint publishing series of the Wroc?aw Feature Film Studio and GAD Records, presenting the most interesting recordings of film music from the archives of the Studio - it includes, among others, compositions by Adam Walaci?ski from the series "Czterej pancerni i pies" and the complete soundtrack by Wojciech Kilar from "Samy swoim".
