ANNA I WAMPIR (ANNA AND THE VAMPIRE)

Master of Polish film music, known e.g. from the music to both parts of the film "Vabank" or "Seksmisji" in the most uncompromising edition. “Anna and the Vampire” is a dark quest in ambient and industrial circles. A fascinating study of how to paint fog with sound. On the disc, the original soundtrack from 1981 plus a contemporary postscript made by Henryk Ku?niak in 2022.

In the early 1980s, Janusz Kidawa, a respected documentary filmmaker, made a feature film about the Vampire from Zag??bie. Dark, difficult to perceive, although for some people the iconic image intrigued with the use of original materials from the investigation and drowned the entire narrative in low-hanging mists. Kidawa invited Henryk Ku?niak, whom they knew from working at the Documentary and Feature Film Studio in Warsaw, to prepare the music. It's hard to call what Henryk Ku?niak prepared for "Anna and the Vampire" film music in the strict sense. This is a Polish search on the borderline of ambient and industrial music - before these terms were even widely used in our country. A sound design that paints on with sound what the director failed to convey with images in the on-screen mists.

The material was remastered from the original tape from the composer's archive. The program of the album was complemented by a contemporary composition, recorded in 2022, which is a tribute to the victims of the Vampire. The booklet contains extensive text about the film and music as well as stills from the set.
