Two films, although the same director, main actor and composer. Wojciech Kilar's music to the comedy by Stanis?aw Lenartowicz is a colorful journey into the unknown. It's mandolins, angel choirs, and even cha-cha!
Track ListAt the beginning of his film career, Wojciech Kilar was an artist with inexhaustible energy and extraordinary imagination. For each film (and he illustrated a lot of them in the 1960s), he looked for completely different solutions and discovered new areas. Two comedies by Stanis?aw Lenartowicz are a perfect example of this. "Ca?a naprzod" is a collection of Zbigniew Cybulski's adventures at sea, accompanied by a galaxy of stars headed by Teresa Tuszy?ska. The colorful (though made on black and white tape) stories are accompanied by equally colorful music, inspired by e.g. Iberian culture, using color in an extremely intelligent way. Embedded during World War II, "Giuseppe in Warsaw" refers to Italian music (introducing, among others, a mandolin into the instruments), but also to songs from the time of the occupation. In both films, an important role is also played by Kilar's characteristic themes full of nerve and anxiety, emphasizing the sound of wind and percussion instruments. The whole thing constitutes an extremely important and colorful episode in the rich film work of the composer.(Auto Translation)
