ABOMINABLE

Original soundtrack from Ryan Schifrin horror movie starring Rex Linn, Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace Stone, scored by father Lalo Schifrin. Architecture-wise, Schifrin anchors with brief, descending motif, balances with similarly brief ascending figure. Ideas play separately, in tandem. Sliding strings, tinkling piano play for suspense, muted trumpets, jabbing horns play for action. Neat characteristic: Schifrin often poses tiny idea, repeats it, then moves on. Device stretches suspense, maintains continuity. Album credits additional electronic music by Ruy Folguera but complex orchestral music remains front and center. Lalo Schifrin conducts Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
