BOURNE SUPERMACY, The

The second novel in Robert Ludlum's Bourne Trilogy reaches the screen in this sequel to the 2002 thriller THE BOURNE IDENTITY. When the Vice Premier of China is assassinated during a visit to the United States, all evidence points to Jason Bourne as the man who pulled the trigger; however, American intelligence officers have their doubts about Bourne's complicity in the case, mostly because Bourne doesn't actually exist. Bourne is a false identity created for CIA agent David Webb (Matt Damon), and it appears that someone has fabricated his involvement in the crime to bring tensions between the United States and China to a boil. Webb sets out to find out who has stolen his cover and killed the Vice Premier before the two nations arrive at the brink of war, while attempting to protect his girlfriend Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente), who has been unwittingly dragged into the fray.
