JOHN WILLIAMS IN TOKYO [Deluxe Edition] (2SACD Hybrid+Blu-ray) [Limited Edition]

This limited deluxe edition includes a 2-CD SACD hybrid set containing all 17 songs performed at the Tokyo concert and a Blu-ray with all live footage.

John Williams, a legend who has shaped the history and sound of film music, visited Japan last September for the first time in 30 years and recorded a concert in which he performed with the Saito Kinen Orchestra for the first time.

The physical release of this work will come in four formats: standard CD, LP, Blu-ray, and a special deluxe CD and Blu-ray edition. The standard CD and LP will include 11 pieces conducted by John Williams and "Tributes! (for Seiji)" conducted by Stephane Deneve, which will be released for the first time in the world.
The Blu-ray includes the first half of the concert conducted by Stephane Deneve and the second half conducted by John Williams, as well as the MC.
The special deluxe CD and Blu-ray editions are SA-CD to hybrid format using DSD masters. The SA-CD contains 17 tracks (excluding the MC) from the first and second halves of the concert, while the Blu-ray includes the entire concert plus interviews with John Williams, and Stephane Deneve, which were recorded especially for this release.

John Williams came to Japan last September at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa for the "Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival," for which Ozawa serves as general director, and for a special performance held in conjunction with the festival to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the prestigious classical music label, Deutsche Grammophon. Following performances with the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Los Angeles Recording Arts Orchestra, this will be the first time that the Saito Kinen Orchestra will be performing together. Tickets for both performances attracted a great deal of attention, with applications flooding the sales website and selling out on the same day.


John Williams and Seiji Ozawa have been close friends since Ozawa was the 13th Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and organized the Tanglewood Music Festival in western Massachusetts.It has been a longtime dream of Seiji Ozawa to have John Williams and the Saito Kinen Orchestra perform together in Japan.
